about

On August 1st of 2019 I played my first show as Analog Mountains. My moniker comes from the words of David Berman, a musician and poet who means so much to me, and who's sound-tracked half my life in good times and bad.

A week after that show I learned that David took his own life. I couldn't find words of my own to cope with that loss, and instead I relied on his music to help process as I had so often in the past. I set up in my living room the Friday after he died and recorded my own version of "Trains Across the Sea" which is one of the first songs a learned to play on guitar.

The process of recording that song, singing his words, committing them to something tangible was part of my way of dealing with that grief. I offer this to anyone who wants it as a gift, but if you choose to pay anything for it, know that the money will go straight to the Music Health Alliance (linked below) per the wishes of the Berman family.

I'd like to especially thank Dax Beaton of Body Games for taking the time to work on this with me. He truly recognized what I was trying to coax out of my rendition, and helped populate it's nooks and crannies with all the right ghosts and spirits.
